Automotive Hall of Fame Announces 2020/2021 Induction Class, Includes Jay Leno

The Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn will be conducting its 2020 and 2021 Induction and Awards Ceremony July 22 at an outdoor venue to be revealed later. The 2020 event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn will be conducting its 2020 and 2021 Induction and Awards Ceremony July 22 at an outdoor venue to be revealed later.

The 2020 event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organization’s 2020 inductees include: Mong-Koo Chung, chairman and CEO of Hyundai Motor Co.; Thomas Gallagher, former CEO of Genuine Parts Co.; Jay Leno, automotive enthusiast and TV personality; and Helene Rother, one of the first women to sustain a career in automotive design (interiors) for General Motors, Nash Motors, and others.

Distinguished Service Citation 2021 awardees, being honored for their positive impact on the industry, include Sir Lewis Hamilton, multiple time Formula One world champion, and Ray Scott, CEO of Lear Corp.

Jim Baumbick, vice president of enterprise product line management, strategy, and planning at Ford Motor Co., and Laurent Borne, president and chief technical officer at & CTO at Stoneridge will be honored with the Hall of Fame’s 2021 Industry Influencer Awards, which recognize individuals who are influencing and leading through their actions, innovations, and visible positions on issues pertinent to the automotive industry and its future.

Industry Influencer Awards also will be bestowed on Nelda J. Connors, founder, CEO, and strategic partner of Pine Grove Holdings; Chris Ludwig, vice president, EPIC Experience Team at Harman International; Ben Volkow, CEO of Otonomo; and Deborah Wahl, chief marketing officer at General Motors Co.

“After having to postpone last year’s event due to COVID-19, we are looking forward to getting back to our normal of celebrating awardees this summer,” says Sarah Cook, president of the Automotive Hall of Fame. “This year’s Distinguished Service Citation and Industry Influencer awardees continue the tradition of recognizing highly admired individuals at the forefront of their fields addressing the challenges of future mobility.”

In addition to recognizing the Distinguished Service Citation and industry Influencer awardees, the event will recognize Mobility Innovator awardee Harold Goddijn, CEO of TomTom, and a member of its management board.
