PETER REMINGTON​

FOUNDER & CEO

Peter created The Remington Group in 1995 as a full-service consulting firm in order to provide strategic partnerships and expertise in various philanthropic areas. Remington also recognized the need for a new type of fundraising organization that would be local in proximity and national in scope.

The firm he envisioned would combine the agility, contacts and prospect knowledge of the local firm with the expertise, range of services and organizational resources offered by the traditional national firm. The resulting organization brings together many years of successful fundraising experience, exceptional capacity to help clients learn and implement fundraising practice and an unequalled access to contacts in the corporate, foundation and individual donor communities on a regional and national basis..

Remington, an industry leader celebrating more than 40 years of philanthropy related experience, served in several key leadership positions prior to creating The Remington Group. His experience includes tenure as the Vice President of External Relations at the University of Detroit, Chief Development Officer with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Unit Director for the United Foundation. Peter is recognized throughout the country not only for his rare ability to take traditional fundraising practices and mold them into creative and customized strategies, but also for his extreme passion for philanthropy and his fundamental desire to deliver superior service to his clients. Remington is known for both his skill as a fundraising professional as well as his true commitment to the community.

Over the years, Peter has served on more than 40 Boards and Commissions, including the Chairman of Neighborhood Housing Organization as well as personally participated in many efforts to continue the advancement for the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan, especially its children.

Peter currently resides in Beverly Hills, Michigan with his wife, Peggy Daitch.

JUSTIN REMINGTON​

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Justin started with The Remington Group in 2009 and oversees day-to-day operations including supporting, managing, planning staff operations, strategizing, and producing client materials, and managing campaigns and processes. He is the primary liaison between staff, clients, and volunteers throughout the firm’s portfolio.

Justin is a seasoned networker who serves on several community organization boards and committees. His current affiliations include the Detroit Economic Club – Yong Leader Board, United Way Emerging Philanthropists Committee, and The DIA’s Founders Junior Council. Justin previously served on former Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Justin Verlander’s Win for Warriors organization and the Detroit Athletic Club’s Intermediate Council. He was also secretary of the University of Detroit Mercy’s Detroit Titan Athletic Club, and recently completed his first year as a mentor in the Leadership OU (Oakland University) program.

Justin received his undergraduate degree at Oakland University with a B.A. in Communications. He is a proud Alumni of the Young American Leaders Program hosted through the Harvard Business School. Justin has received past awards through Oakland University, Young Alumni 10 within 10 and Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Future Leader. He has also achieved fundraising certificates in Principles and Techniques of Fundraising and China Philanthropy Summit.

Justin currently resides in Royal Oak, Michigan with his wife, Emily, daughter, Sloane, and their beloved dog Ambassador.

KATE CAHILL

PRINCIPAL AND SENIOR CONSULTANT

Kate is a nonprofit industry leader with more than 25 years of experience across a number of sectors including health care, conservation, education, social services, national health agencies, faith-based organizations, and the arts.

Prior to TRG, she served as executive director of JDRF’s Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan Chapter partnering with staff and volunteers to exceed fundraising goals each year with special emphasis on expanding the chapter’s major gifts program. Earlier in her career, as Vice President with CCS Fundraising, Kate directed transformational capital, endowment and comprehensive campaigns for clients such as The Nature Conservancy, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Detroit Public Television, University of Windsor, and more. She also spent several years with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society working both on a local and national level. 

Through the years, Kate has managed every component of a comprehensive fundraising operation including annual giving, special events, major gifts, and campaigns. She brings unique insight to her consulting role having personal experience at all levels of management as well as local and national organizational perspectives. 

Additionally, Kate is especially adept working with volunteers and helping organizations maximize the power of volunteer-staff partnerships to achieve inspiring results. Kate earned her B.A. in Writing-Intensive English from Marquette University and has completed certificate work at Indiana University through the former “Fundraising School.”

Kate lives in Birmingham, and in her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, traveling, and exploring the great outdoors.

MADELINE WYATT​

CLIENT RELATIONS MANAGER

Maddie started with The Remington Group in 2018 and has been coordinating and implementing client processes and information management. She takes a large part in tracking client’s donors and prospects, updating client deliverables, organizing, producing client related materials, and much more. She also coordinates and assists in managing our client communications and ensuring that all tasks are completed on time.

She has been a critical asset in providing detailed support and follow through to our leadership team. Maddie’s attention to detail and organization has helped the team follow through on client coordination and collaboration. Her energetic personality and ability to juggle multiple tasks at once, have helped the team reach their fundraising goals.

Maddie received her undergraduate degree at Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Organization Administration. She is currently pursuing a M.A. in Philanthropic Studies through the Indiana University Lilly School of Philanthropy. She has also achieved fundraising certificates in Principle and Techniques of Fundraising, Proposal Writing and Grant Management, Developing Major Gifts, and Current Affairs Fundraising: Crisis Management. Maddie’s drive to stay current and educated has helped provide the firm with relevancy and modern strategy.

Maddie currently resides in Livonia, Michigan with her husband, Steve, and two daughters, Skylar and Savannah.

MARY ANN O'LEARY

Office MANAGER

Mary Ann started with The Remington Group in the fall of 2008.  She coordinates the scheduling and finances for the firm.  She handles all aspects of the firms Business, including payables/receivables, forecasting and reporting, and coordinates all financial audits.

Mary Ann’s career started with Pepsi and the Yum brands in various sales and marketing roles for twelve years, before staying home to raise her three young boys.

Mary Ann received her undergraduate degree at John Carroll University with a Communications and Marketing degree and was a student athlete.  She was inducted into the John Carroll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Mary Ann currently resides in Beverly Hills, Michigan with her husband, Pat, and three sons, Quinn, Jack and Paddy.

Kelsey Martin

Philanthropic Intern

Kelsey started with The Remington Group in the fall of 2020. She assists in client direct development projects including donor/prospect research, market study research and creating clear and concise summary reports. Kelsey uses her creative side updating our social media accounts, overseeing our website and creating newsletters for TRG.

Kelsey received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Oakland University. Her passion for teaching and giving back to her students and the special education community is what led her to purse a career in philanthropy and fundraising. Currently, she is a graduate student at Central Michigan University working towards a M.A. in Philanthropy and Fundraising.

Kelsey currently resides in Goodrich, Michigan and in her free time enjoys horseback riding, kayaking, paddle boarding and traveling.

AMBASSADOR

Head of security

Bass has been with the firm for a few years and currently serves as the Head of Security. Bass’ responsibilities include greeting visitors, accompanying staff to the mailbox, carefully inspecting FedEx deliveries, and consulting with the Head of Hospitality on any security matters. Ambassador graduated in 2012 from the Birmingham Dog Obedience School, where he was the youngest to graduate in his class.
